Doctrinal Statement
What we believe…The Scriptures
We believe the Holy Scriptures are the verbally and wholly inspired Word of God (2 Tim. 3:16-17). We believe that they are recorded without error, originated with God, and are the complete and final authority for our faith and practice (2 Peter 1:20-21).
The Godhead
We believe in one Triune God (Deut.6:4), eternally existing in three co-eternal and co-equal persons – the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. They are one in being, the same in essence, power, glory, and sharing the same attributes and perfections (2 Cor. 13:14; John 10:30).
The Person and Work of Christ
We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ. That God the Son became incarnate in the person of Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary (Isa. 7:14; Matt. 1:23). He is truly God and truly man; lived a perfect, sinless life (2 Cor. 5:21); and died on the cross for all mankind (1 John 2:2). We hold that his death is efficient for all who believe (John 1:12; 3:16); and our justification before God is grounded in the shedding of His blood (Rom. 5:9). We also believe that the Lord Jesus Christ ascended to Heaven and is now seated at the right hand of God where he intercedes on our behalf as our High Priest and Advocate (Rom. 8:34; Heb. 7:25).
The sinfulness of Man
We believe that the entire human race sinned in Adam (Rom. 5:12), and that sin is universal to all man (Rom. 3:23). Man inherited this sinful nature, became alienated from God (Col. 1:21), and is totally depraved (Rom. 1:18-32), and he is now utterly unable to save himself (Eph. 2:1-5; 12). All men are guilty and lost apart from Christ.
The gift of salvation
We believe that salvation is a free gift of God’s grace through faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross (Eph. 2:8,9). “Christ died for us” (Rom. 5:8-9), and “bore our sins in His own body on the tree” (1 Peter 2:24). We also believe that all those who are saved are also kept by the power of God’s grace and are secure in Christ forever (John 6:37-40; 10:27-30; Rom. 8:1; 38-39).
The things to come
We believe in the physical resurrection of all men – those “in Christ” to everlasting joy and those “without Christ” to everlasting punishment (Matt. 25:46; John 5:28-29; 11:25-26).
We believe in the coming return of the Lord Jesus Christ, when he will physically return again to earth to establish his promised kingdom (Zech. 14:4-11; 1 Thess. 1:10; Rev. 3:10; 19:11-16; 20:1-6).
